5.6 Disconnecting the Energy storage solution
Basic information • As long as the Energy storage solution (with or without extension modules) is char-
ged with energy, it may not be disconnected from the DC link. The flashing indi-
cator LED on the top of the housing shows the state.
• To exclude any fault with the indicator LED, it is vital that you have seen it flashing
before it extinguishes. Only then can you be sure that it is safe to work on the
Energy storage solution.

Disconnect the application from the main power supply.

At the Energy storage solution, insert the discharge bridge

between "–DC"

(black terminal) and "BR"
w
(grey terminal).

The Energy storage solution will be discharged.

After the Energy storage solution has been fully discharged, the indicator LED
will no longer flash.

After it has been fully discharged, wait at least another 30 seconds.

Use a voltmeter to make sure that there is no voltage between "–DC"
q
(black ter-
minal) and "+DC"
e
(red terminal).

Disconnect the Energy storage solution from the DC link.

The discharge bridge must remain inserted as long as the Energy storage solu-
tion is detached from the DC link.

Reconnect the application to the main power supply.
There is a risk of damage.
If discharged using the supplied discharge bridge, the Energy
storage solution can be destroyed if an additional external brake
resistor is installed.

Make sure that the external resistance is > 22 Ohm when
discharging using the accompanying discharge bridge.
