ADJUSTMENTS & OPERATION
Assembly & adjustment of Optional 50” track (Mod. KW-300) continued...
8) Whether you are using only one track or two tracks assembled together, the
front edge of the track can be positioned along the cut line of your workpiece
and clamped down.
Clamping down track:
The track(s) should be clamped down to make sure there is no movement of the
track during a cut. An optional 2pc. Clamp Kit (Mod. KW-303) is available for this
purpose.
- Press the clamp release button (A) Fig.10 to open the clamp (B), slide the clamp
straight bar (C) into the groove under the track as shown in Fig.10 and press the
handle (D) to lock clamp in place.
- Repeat for the other end of the track.
9) Position the Plunge Cut Track Saw onto the track.
10) Use the fine adjustment knobs (A) Fig.11 to eliminate track play, see
instructions on this page for specific instructions on how to eliminate track
play.
Cutting rubber strip of Optional 50” track (Mod. KW-300)
1) The rubber strip (A) Fig.12 along the front edge of the track acts as a
straightedge and can be used as a guide for aligning the track with the
workpiece cut line.
For precision purposes the rubber strip (A) must be cut
using the Plunge Cut Track Saw before using the track saw for the first
time.
2) Pivot mode selector to the Free plunge action mode (general cuts) (B) Fig.4.
Set the plunge cut depth at 1/2”, just enough to only cut the rubber strip.
3) Make sure track in clamped down before attempting to cut the rubber strip.
4) Place Plunge Cut Track Saw on the end of the track (2/3 off the track) in order
to cut the entire rubber strip.
5) Start the saw, press the plunge lock/release button and allow the saw to come
up to full speed, plunge cut downwards until it stops, then move the saw
forward along the track to cut the full length of the rubber strip.
INSTALLING/ADJUSTING PLUNGE CUT TRACK SAW ON OPTIONAL 50”
TRACK
Anti-kickback knob
This Plunge Cut Track Saw comes with an anti-kickback knob (A) Fig.13 and it is
located on the base of the saw. To install this saw on a track:
1) Position the Plunge Cut Track saw onto the track, but before laying the saw flat,
turn the spring loaded anti-kickback knob (A) Fig.13 clockwise and lay the saw
flat on the track.
2) Before going onto the next step, make sure this assembly was done correctly.
The assembly was done correctly if it is impossible to move the saw backwards
on the track.
This anti-kickback knob is designed to prevent kickbacks, which is a backwards
movement of the saw along the track. If you want to move the saw backwards to
the starting point on the track, follow these instructions:
1) Turn the spring loaded anti-kickback knob (A) Fig.13 clockwise and hold it in
this position and slide the saw backwards on the track to your starting point.
Release knob to re-engage the anti-kickback safety device.
Using the fine adjustment knobs
This Plunge Cut Track Saw comes with two fine adjustment knobs which help
eliminate play between the track and slot in the base of the saw. To eliminate play:
1) Loosen both fine adjustment knobs (A) Fig.11, move both fine adjustment knob
levers (B) completely to the left or the right. Tighten both fine adjustment knobs.
2) Position the Plunge Cut Track Saw onto the track, make sure the saw slot fits
in the track slot.
3) Loosen both fine adjustment knobs, move both fine adjustment knob levers to
remove any play that exists. At this point the base must be snug in the slot. if
the play was eliminated, retighten both fine adjustment knobs.
4) Test your adjustment, slide the saw along the track and observe if the saw
moves smoothly, if it doesn’t, repeat above steps until the saw moves
smoothly.
