ASSEMBLY
Clean all rust protected surfaces with ordinary house hold type grease or spot remover.
Do not use; gasoline, paint thinner, mineral spirits, etc. These may damage painted
surfaces. Apply a coat of paste wax to the tables to prevent rust. Wipe all parts thor-
oughly with a clean dry cloth.
MOUNTING BELT AND DISC SANDER TO WORKBENCH
If the belt and disc sander is to be used in a permanent location, it should be fastened
securely to a firm supporting surface such as a workbench.
If mounting to a workbench, holes should be drilled through supporting surface of the
workbench.
The belt and disc sander can also be clamped directy to a workbench using two or
more "C" clamps on base of unit.
INSTALLING SANDING BELT HOUSING TO BASE
1. Before attempting to install the belt housing to the steel base, loosen the 4 hex. nuts
(A) Fig.3 which secure the motor to the base.
2. Remove the sanding belt rear cover (Diagram #74) from the belt housing (A) Fig.4,
by unscrewing the two lock knobs (Diagram #75) at the rear. This will allow you to
see the two threaded holes in the belt housing for alignment with the base’s holes.
3. Line up the two holes in the belt housing with the two holes in the base. From the
bottom of the base, insert two cap screws, washers and spring washers (Diagram
#’s 7, 3 & 2) through the holes to join them together. You need to tilt the base up to
do this. Only hand tighten the cap screws at this point.
INSTALLING THE DRIVE V-BELT AND TENSIONING
1. Slightly lift the motor shaft (A) Fig.5 and slip the V-belt (B) under and onto the motor
pulley (C) and then onto the sanding belt drive pulley (D).
2. Position the motor so that the motor shaft (A) Fig.5 is centered with the half moon
shape of the sanding disc housing (E). Secure the motor to the base by tightening
the 4 hex. nuts (A) Fig.3 loosened previously. Make sure the motor is straight.
3. Slide the sanding belt housing (F) Fig.5 away from the motor to tension the V-belt,
until you obtain between 1/4” and 1/2” of deflection, as shown in Fig.6.
4. Both pulleys (C & D) Fig.5 should be in-line with each other. If not, reposition the
sanding belt housing (F).
5. Secure the sanding belt housing (F) to the base by tightening the 2 cap screws
under the base, and re-attach the rear cover (Diagram #74) using the 2 lock knobs
(Diagram #75) removed previously.
