3. Leave the e-key inside the vehicle.
But you must not place the e-key
on the shelf behind the rear seats.
4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. If steps 3 and 4 have been com-
pleted, the immobilizer indicator
(
) illuminates on the instru-
ment panel for approximately 10
seconds.
6. With the brake pedal depressed
and held, start the engine by turn-
ing the ignition switch on.
If the brake pedal is released or
the ignition switch is not turned on
within 10 seconds, the ignition
switch will be locked. If this occurs,
release the brake pedal and repeat
step 4 to 6.
If the battery is weak or the e-key
does not work correctly, you can start
the engine by inserting the e-key in
the ignition switch.
After inserting
the e-key, you have 10 seconds to
start the vehicle. After 10 seconds
the ignition switch will be locked.
Therefore, if more than 10 seconds
have passed, you will need to
remove and re-insert the e-key to
start the engine.
• In the event that you don’t start the
engine within 10 seconds and you
have also depressed the brake
pedal for more 10 seconds in suc-
cession of three times, the engine
may not start.
This has been
designed to prevent related parts
from overheating and if it appears
to have occurred, you should wait
for approximately 5 minutes before
trying to start the engine again. If
the engine still does not start after
5 minutes, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.
• If the e-key is placed on the shelf
behind the rear seats, the engine
will not start.
• When a door opens and closes
while the engine is running as well
as the engine is started, checks
the e-key in the vehicle. If the e-key
were not for, the immobilizer indi-
cator (
) blinks. Always keep
the e-key in your possession.
