Measuring AC or DC Current (up to µA)
This measurement function is applicable for the U1194A model only.
Set up your clamp meter to measure AC or DC current (up to
μ
A) as shown in
. Probe the test points, and read the display.

WARNING
Never attempt an in-circuit current measurement where the open-circuit
potential to earth is greater than 1000 V. Doing so will cause damage to the
clamp meter and possible electric shock or personal injury.
CAUTION
– To avoid possible damage to the clamp meter or to the equipment under
test, use the proper terminals, function, and range for your measurement.
Use the clamp jaw for currents above 600 µA.
–
To measure current, you must open the circuit under test, then place the
clamp meter in series with the circuit.
Never place the probes across (in
parallel with) any circuit or component when the leads are plugged into
the current terminals.
– Placing the probes across (in parallel with) a powered circuit when a lead
is plugged into a current terminal can damage the circuit you are testing.
This happens because the resistance through the clamp meter's current
terminals is very low, resulting in a short circuit.
