4.3.7 Measurement preparation
Drive the X-axis out of the range of the tool so that the working area is free.
Ensure that the adapter sleeve matching the tool is used and that the correct
adapter is selected for the measurement control unit (see “Store adapter”,
Page 28).
Various types of adapters, from simple reductions to adapters for non-
rotating tools of the VDI type fit into the spindle.

Caution! Possible
damage to the setting drive!
Swarf, sand and other dirt can damage the
setting drives for the
X- and Z-axes.
Note!
Keep contact surfaces between tool (1) and adapter sleeve (2)
absolutely clean!
The slightest dirt makes the measurement result unusable!
Note!
Measurement error due to thermal expansion can be avoided,
when the tool is at the ambient temperature.
Make sure that the main switch is On.
Insert the tool from above into the adapter sleeve. When doing this, en-
sure that no swarf or other dirt gets onto the setter!
