Setting up the base weights
Screw one locating pin (Fig.1 Page 4 Chapter 2 into the central tapped hole of each rubber-coated
base weight (Fig.1 Page 4 Chapter 2). The supplied securing pin (Fig.1 Page 4 Chapter 2) fitted
through the cross-hole in the locating pin will enable sufficient torque to be applied.
Place two of the rubber-coated base weights in the approximate required position on the roof, with
the distance between centres at about 1050 mm. The suction-cupped surface of the base weights
must be in contact with the roof. Place the stabiliser arm (Fig.1 Page 4 Chapter 2) on to the locating
pins of these two base weights. (It may be necessary to re-position one of the weights.)
Assembling the cross arms and pedestal assembly
a)
Weightanka is supplied with two cross arms. One of the cross arms has a spreader plate
(positioned centrally) welded to one side of it and back and front plates (located to one side of
the centre hole). This cross arm must be used as the bottom cross arm (Fig.1 Page 4 Chapter
2), with the side with two welded bosses on the underside.
b)
Screw the M20x75 mm socket-head screw into the M20 tapped hole in the base of the
spreader plate at the centre of the bottom cross arm, with the threaded portion protruding
upwards through the hole in the cross arm, and tighten with a 12 mm A/F Allen key.
c)
Place the central hole of the top cross arm (Fig.1 Page 4 Chapter 2) (with the two instruction
notices facing upwards) over the M20x75 mm socket-head screw previously fitted to the bottom
cross arm.
d)
Screw the pedestal (Fig.2 Page 17 Chapter 2) on to the M20x75 mm socket-head screw. Screw
it home but do not over tighten.
e)
Place the PPE warning disc notice upwards and polythene washer over the threaded portion
(shank) of the supplied eyebolt, then insert the eyebolt into the eyebolt hole on the top of the
pedestal.
WARNING! Only use the supplied eyebolt, specifically designed for use with Weightanka.
Fitting the cross arm/pedestal assembly to the base weights
a)
Fit the cross arm/pedestal assembly on to the locating pins of the two base weights to
which the stabiliser arm has already been fitted.
b)
Position each of the remaining two rubber-coated base weights (with the suction-cupped
surface to the bottom) so that the holes in the two unused ends of the cross arms will fit
over the locating pins.
c)
tighten the eyebolt to 35 Nm torque using the tommy bar provided.
WARNING! Use only the supplied tommy bar as this will ensure the correct torque is not exceeded).
WARNING! ALWAYS position the tommy bar such that the eyebolt is central along the length of the
tommy bar, and turn by applying equal force at each end of the tommy bar.
WARNING! NEVER position the tommy bar such that the eyebolt is off-centre, as this could result in too
much force being applied to the eyebolt, possibly causing damage to the eyebolt
