Ceramic Capacity
Ceramic capacity depends on water quality. The dirtier the water the more often
you will have to clean the element. This reduces the capacity of approx.
20’000 litres (5’300 gallons). Check the minimum diameter after cleaning. If the
measuring gauge is able to slide over the ceramic element at any point, without
being forced, replace the element. Inspect the ceramic for cracks after cleaning,
if you dropped the filter or if you had freezing temperatures. If the filter shows
cracks it will no longer protect you from microorganisms.
Long-Term Storage (after your trip is over)
Store the Siphon filter as follows:
1.
Brush the ceramic element under running water with the supplied
cleaning pad.
2.
Allow to air dry completely.
3.
Wrap the hose around the filter and store the Katadyn Siphon inside the
transportation casing.
Note: When removing the Siphon from longterm storage, flush the system with
2 litres (0.5 gallons) of water to remove any stale tasting water.
