Installing the M40e Mounting Hardware for a Four-Post Rack
To prepare to mount the router into a four-post rack or cabinet:

Installing Cage Nuts, If Needed on page 78
•
Installing the Mounting Shelf in a Four-Post Rack or Cabinet on page 78
•
Removing the Center-Mounting Brackets on page 78
Installing Cage Nuts, If Needed
Install cage nuts, if needed:
1.
On each front rack rail, install a cage nut 0.88 in. (2.2 cm) up from the bottom of a U
division.
2.
Insert a cage nut behind each hole where you plan to install the flanges of the mounting
shelf.
Installing the Mounting Shelf in a Four-Post Rack or Cabinet
To install the mounting shelf:
1.
On the front of each front rack rail, partially insert a mounting screw 0.88 in. (2.2 cm)
up from the bottom of a U division.
2.
Install the shelf on the front rack rails. Rest the bottom slot of each flange on one of
the mounting screws.
3.
Partially insert a mounting screw into the top hole in each flange of the shelf.
4.
Tighten all the screws completely.
Removing the Center-Mounting Brackets
To remove the center-mounting brackets:
1.
Loosen the screws at the top and bottom of each bracket.
2.
Remove the brackets from both sides of the chassis.

Installing the M40e Mounting Hardware for an Open-Frame Rack
To prepare to mount the router into an open-frame rack, install the mounting shelf on
the rack. Install cage nuts, if needed.
