Interoperability Now
If speed dials are enabled, when prompted for a phone number the user may enter
* n n
to dial
speed dial ‘nn’ for that channel type. For example, if the user entered
* 0 2
to connect to our
sample ACU-5000 system’s PSTN channel, and then, when prompted for a phone number, enters
* 4 8
, PSTN speed dial number 48 will be dialed.
To make a conference call among several channels, a remote user can add a second connection
after the first is made.
Note 1: Any connections made by external users will show up on the Net Control GUI of any
system operators currently logged into the ACU-5000.
Note 2: Speed Dials are explained in Section 6.6.
Note 3: Operation is similar for a remote user interfacing via a telephone, calling into the phone
number of CH2, or a SIP phone or softphone user calling into CH3 and making a connection to
another ACU-5000 channel.
Note 4: Operation is similar for a connection from a remote user (radio user with keypad [CH1]
or telephone user [CH2] creating a connection to a SIP phone user via CH3); the system will
provide voice prompts to guide the input of a proper address; in these cases a speed dial is
particularly useful.
9.3.2
Remote DTMF – Break a Connection
To disconnect an interface channel from any connection, enter the DTMF disconnect command
* #
(star - pound). If the interface channel is currently engaged in a conference call between
several different channels, the
* #
sequence entered at the keypad of a radio associated with
channel #1 will remove channel #1 from the call, but leave the remaining connections intact.
9.3.3
Remote DTMF – Attention Command
When the DTMF Attention Command * * *
(star – star - star) is sent to any channel, a voice
prompt will be returned identifying the extension number of the channel receiving the Attention
Command. This can be done whether or not the channel being queried is currently connected,
so it can be used to check if the system is operational without having to make a connection.
For example, if the VHF radio user of the sample ACU-5000 system presses
* * *
the ACU-5000
will transmit a voice prompt over VHF identifying the channel number.
9.3.4
Remote DTMF – Monitor Function
This command enables any channel to monitor all audio from any other channel. This is a one-
way audio stream; no audio is sent from the monitoring channel to a channel being monitored.
Enter
* 3 4 n n
, where
n n
is the extension to be monitored. To discontinue monitoring, re-enter
* 3 4 n n
, where again
n n
is the extension that is currently being monitored.
This command toggles the selected channel, turning the monitor function on, and then cutting it
off. When the monitor function is enabled, the monitoring channel will hear only the receive
audio of the channel being monitored. The Monitor Function does not allow the monitoring
channel to assert any control over the monitored channel, nor can it send TX audio to the
monitored channel. Both the monitoring and the monitored channel will still be capable of
making connections and performing other functions if so desired.
