Maintenance instructions

8.4

Oil

The oil separator in the screw compressor unit has an integrated oil reservoir. The oil is used for
lubrication, cooling, sealing and regulation of the capacity slide.

•

Only use oil types recommended in the SABROE oil recommendation.

•

Oil is added via the oil pump/oil charging valve.

•

Check the oil level in the oil separator during operation. It must not be higher than the
upper sight glass. Oil must be added when the level reaches the lower sight glass. The cor-
rect level appears only when the unit is operating. See also subsection

8.5 Oil charge.

•

If the oil level is too low, check for leaks and possible insufficient oil return from the refrig-
eration plant.

8.5

Oil charge

The oil in the unit must be changed after a specific number of operating hours or when an oil anal-
ysis shows that it needs to be changed.

We advise you to let Johnson Controls Denmark’s service organisation change the oil as it is rec-
ommended to replace all filters in the unit at the same time.

Oil charge

: The necessary amount of oil depends on the composition of the specific unit. You can

calculate the correct amount using Table 15 and Table 16 below.

Operation

: During operation the oil level is satisfactory in the range from the middle of the upper

sight glass and down to the lowest level where it is still visible in the lower sight glass. However, in
the latter situation a recharge is required.

The oil level difference between mid-upper and mid-lower sight glass is approximately 25 litres.

Note:

After oil charging and during standstill, the oil level may rise above the upper sight glass.
