For
at least
the first 300 kms
do not exceed
5000 rpm & vary the speed & gears – around town
driving is suitable.
After 150 kms
drain the oil out of the engine & replace with 0.6 ltr of good quality 20W-40 oil (or
preferably
30 SAE mono-grade).
After 500 kms
drain oil & replace with 0.6 ltr of 20W-40 oil (or preferably 30 SAE).
After 1000 kms
drain oil & replace.
Change oil
every 1000 kms
thereafter.
NOTE: Use of synthetic oil is not recommended until the NZ50 has travelled
at least
1500 kms -
similarly for use of any oil treatment agents such as (recommended) Energy Release.
IDLE ADJUSTMENT
Only adjust the idle to 1500 rpm +/-100 when the engine is completely warmed up after
at least
a 15 minute ride. The idle adjustment is the carburettor screw with the spring. The other
adjustable screw on the carburettor is mixture & should not need adjustment.

To maintain the good looks of your NZ50 it is highly recommended to spray & wipe over all
chrome surfaces ideally with BALLISTOL, INOX or CRC every few weeks. This will polish &
coat the chrome surface to prevent premature aging or rusting. This is particularly important
where the bike is used in coastal areas or parked outside.
Additionally Ballistol, Inox or CRC corrosion inhibitor should be occasionally sprayed around
the steering head, engine, on all chrome & steel bolts & wiped sparingly over the alloy wheels
& all painted metal surfaces. Ballistol is also suitable for cleaning all plastic & rubber surfaces.
Regularly spray a little Ballistol (recommended), Inox or CRC into the ignition key slot &
handlebar switches, particularly if parked outside.
