The unit is disconnected from the 
AC outlet 

Reconnect to the AC outlet.   
 

AC outlet is not functioning. 

Plug another device into the same 
outlet to confirm the outlet is 
working. 

The unit does not 
respond (no 
power) 

No batteries installed or installed 
batteries are exhausted. 

Install 8 x “D” batteries or replace 
the exhausted batteries. 

Noise or sound 

distorted on FM 

broadcast 

Station not tuned properly for FM. 
Telescopic antenna is not fully 

extended. 

Retune the FM broadcast station. 
Fully extend the FM telescopic 

antenna. 

FM STEREO 

indicator does not 

light up 

You have tuned to a mono 

station or the station is too 

weak. 

Select another FM station or extend 

or rotate the telescopic antenna for 

best reception. 

 

Volume level is set to high. 

Decrease the volume. 

Sound is distorted 

Sound source is distorted. 

Try a different audio source such as 
a music CD.

Slide the FUNCTION switch to select 
CD mode.
