Loader Valve
Dismantling
The illustration below shows a typical valve section with
servo operated spool.
Always work on a clean, dirt free surface.
1 Remove the cap screws and washers 1 and end caps 2 .
2 Remove springs 3 , retainers 4 , washers 5 and seals 6 .
3 Remove spool 7 from the main body.
4 Refer to page E/16-8 and 16-9 for dismantling of the
remainder of the valve.
Note: Work on the operation sections individually. Do not
interchange parts from individual sections.
5 Clean all parts in kerosene, inspect and check for
damage.
Damaged sections should be replaced complete.
To check the condition of springs 3 , assemble into the end
cap with cup 4 as shown in the inset. Apply a force of 84N
(19 lbf) on the cup to compress the spring then measure
distance
A which should be 5.08 mm (0.2 in). Add shims
under the spring or replace the spring as necessary.
Assembly
Assembly is a reversal of the dismantling procedure.
Renew all seals and 'O' rings.
Lubricate all parts with hydraulic oil before assembly.
Ensure that the spools are inserted in their correct bores.
Ensure that spool 7 is inserted into the main body with
identification groove X towards the ‘B’ service port. The
letters ‘A’ and ‘B’ are cast into the main body against the
service port apertures.
Before finally tightening the tie rod nuts, position the valve
assembly on its mounting feet and ensure the valve is sitting
flat.
