Compression keys

The  compression  key  fitted  on  the  crowns  of  Master
Compressor line watch models is a patented system which
enables additional compression of one of the 4 crown gaskets,
which boosts your watch’s water-resistance in the long term.

The “open”  or “closed”  position  of  the  compression  key  is
indicated by the arrow symbols (viewed from the front):
-  The  compression  key  is  in  the  compressed  gasket  posi-

tion (“closed”) if the indicator shows only one arrow; the
keys must be closed when you are wearing your watch and
when you are taking part in sports. You must not make any
adjustments or set the time in this position, since this might
damage the gaskets.

-  The  compression  key  is  in  the  non-compressed  gasket

position (“open”) if the indication is represented by two
arrows; in this configuration, you can start the watch and
set the functions as per the explanations below.

The  transition  from  the “closed”  to  the “open”  position,  or
vice-versa,  is  performed  by  turning  the  key  using  the  wing-
nuts in the direction indicated by the arrow(s).

Note

The  water-resistance  function  of  the  compression  key  is
separate from the operation of the crown itself. Even in the
closed position, the key does not lock the crown. So in practice
it  is  possible  to  handle  the  crown  when  the  key  is  in  the
compressed gasket position.

However, as mentioned earlier,

it is extremely inadvisable to make settings in this position,
since this might damage the gaskets.

We recommend that

you  first  turn  the  compression  key  to  the “open”  position
before making any settings on your watch.

The switch from the “closed” to the “open” position, or vice-
versa, is made by turning the key using the wing-nuts in the
direction indicated by the arrow(s).

Master Compressor Diving,
divers’ watches meeting the NIHS 92-11
(ISO 6425) standards

Master  Compressor  Diving  line  watches,  which  bear  the
title “diving  watches”,  satisfy  the  requirements  of  the  Swiss
Watchmaking Industry Standard (NIHS) 92-11, reproducing
the European standard ISO 6425.

Notice

As a precaution, please note the following two recommenda-
tions:
-   You must not operate the crowns in water,
-  You must not use Master Compressor Diving watches for

deep dives (diving with a gas mixture, in which the diver
spends alternating periods between the water and a pres-
surised chamber), or at a depth greater than that indicated.

Important notice:

Elementary  rules  for  diving  –  Diving  with  the  Master
Compressor Diving Pro Geographic watch:
Please note the following points:
-  Dives  must  be  performed  under  your  own  responsibility,

and in accordance with the elementary rules of diving. There
are certain risks inherent in this activity, such as accidents or
unforeseen physiological reactions. You need to be a holder
of  a  diving  certificate,  or  make  the  dive  as  part  of  diving
training dispensed by specialised professionals, and be fully
equipped for this activity to ensure your own safety. Sports
diving in special environments, known as “technical diving”,
requires  special  techniques  and  equipment  (gas  mixtures,
rebreathers, etc.) and a formal safety approach, which can
only be provided by diving professionals.

-  Never dive alone; your watch is under no circumstances a

substitute for a diving professional.

-  Always dive with at least two depth gauges (instruments

measuring depth), including one professional diving compu-
ter with electronic depth gauge. Diving computers indicate
multiple parameters such as the body’s nitrogen level, cal-
culate  decompression  stops  or  measure  water  tempera-
ture, etc. They will always be the most suitable technology
for providing accurate multi-purpose tools for diving. It is
utterly inadvisable to use the Master Compressor Diving
Pro Geographic watch without a diving computer as a pri-
mary  tool.  Furthermore,  any  use  of  a  mechanical  depth
gauge  requires  perfect  knowledge  of  the  laws  governing
the use of diving tables, as the safety rules applicable for
these are the same as for diving with a computer.

-  Any  opening  or  technical  service  manipulation  of  the

Master  Compressor  Diving  Pro  Geographic  watch  case
must be verified by an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer.
Furthermore,  before  any  period  of  intensive  use,  your
watch must undergo a check-up by an authorised Jaeger-
LeCoultre retailer.

Maximum depth and water-resistance

The  Master  Compressor  Diving  Pro  Geographic  watch  is
water-resistant to 30 atm (approximately 300 metres).
The  depth  gauge  on  the  Master  Compressor  Diving  Pro
Geographic watch indicates depths from 0 to 80 metres.
Please  note  that  taking  the  watch  down  below  80 metres
does not pose any danger to the depth gauge mechanism. In
this case, its hand stops just after the ‘80’ mark on the scale.
The mechanism has a stop that halts the indicator in this posi-
tion. Once the watch returns to a depth of 80 metres, the
indicator hand will start moving again, according to the depth
measured, up to zero metres.
