NOTE: Running engine with cover posi oned for cold
weather opera on in normal condi ons can damage
engine.
NOTE: Opera ng engine with loose or damaged air
cleaner components could cause premature wear and
failure. Replace all bent or damaged components.
NOTE: Paper element cannot be blown out with
compressed air.
Engine Quad‐Clean™
Move bails on air cleaner cover down; remove latches
from under tabs on base; remove cover.
Engine Precleaner:
1. Remove precleaner from paper element.
2. Replace or wash precleaner, (Jackrabbit # 57702), in
warm water with detergent . Rinse and allow to air dry.
3. Lightly oil precleaner with new engine oil; squeeze out
excess oil.
4. Reinstall precleaner over paper element.
Engine Paper Element:
1. Separate precleaner from element; service precleaner
and replace paper element (Jackrabbit # 57703).
2. Install new paper element on base; install precleaner
over paper element.
Posi on air cleaner cover for normal opera on (sun decal
out) or for cold weather opera on
(snowflake decal out); place latches under tabs on base;
li up bails to secure cover.
Proper cooling is essen al. To prevent over hea ng, clean
screens, cooling fins, and other external surfaces of
engine. Avoid spraying water at wiring harness or any
electrical components. See maintenance schedule.
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
If engine will be out of service for 2 months or more,
follow procedure below.
1. Add Kohler PRO Series fuel treatment or equivalent to
fuel tank. Run engine 2‐3 minutes to get stabilized fuel
into fuel system (failures due to untreated fuel are not
warrantable).
2. Change oil while engine is s ll warm from opera on.
Remove spark plug(s) and pour about 1 oz. of engine oil
into cylinder(s). Replace spark plug(s) and crank engine
slowly to distribute oil.
3. Disconnect nega ve (‐) ba ery cable.
4. Store engine in a clean, dry place.
Vacuum Pump Par cle Filter
:
1. Loca on is shown on page 11. Loosen wingnuts on top
of the blue casing.
2. Drop both locking fasteners into a horizontal posi on
and remove lid from the casing.
3. Remove bolt that is holding down the filter element.
4. Remove stainless steel element and wash thoroughly
with dish soap.
5. Reinstall element, fasteners, and lid.
