STOPPING
1. Move the thro le lever to the low idle posi on.
2. Turn the key to the off posi on.
3. Turn the fuel shut‐off switch to the OFF posi on (to the
le ).
ADDITIONAL OPERATING TIPS
Cold Weather Star ng Hints:
1. Use proper oil for temperature expected.
2. Use fresh winter grade fuel. Winter grade fuel has
higher vola lity to improve star ng.
Angle of Opera on:
Do not operate this engine past a 25°
slope. Engine damage could result from insufficient
lubrica on.
Engine Speed:
Do not tamper with governor se ng to
increase maximum engine speed. Overspeed is hazardous
and will void warranty.
High Al tude Opera on:
The engine may require a high
al tude carburator kit to ensure correct engine opera on
at al tudes above 4000 . (1219 meters). To obtain
al tude kit informa on or to find a Kohler authorized
dealer, visit KohlerEngines.com or call 1‐800‐544‐2444
(U.S. and Canada).
This engine should be operated in its original configura on
below 4000 . (1219 meters) as damage may occur if high
al tude carburetor kit is installed and operated below
4000 . (1219 meters.)
Carburetor Icing:
Running engine with cover posi on for
cold weather opera on in normal condi ons can damage
the engine.
Carburetor icing can take place when certain combina ons
of temperature and humidity exist. Result of carburetor
icing is rough running at idle or low speed as well as black
or white smoke.
To reduce the likely of carburetor icing, air cleaner cover
can be rotated to draw warmer air from muffler side. For
cold weather opera on, posi on air cleaner cover with
sun decal out.
Pump protec on when ambient temperature is 32
degrees or lower:
1. Before leaving the last job site of the day, run the
machine at max idle to draw a vacuum on the system
sufficient to cause the lubrica on system to func on.
Then open the sight feed valves far enough to allow a full
stream of oil to flow into the vacuum pump for 3 to 5
seconds. This will in most cases, allow enough oil to
remain in the pump mechanism overnight to prevent the
freezing of any condensa on and prevent pump damage
on start‐up.
2. Always be sure to drain the two moisture traps a er
each job and the end of each working day to prevent the
condensa on within the traps from freezing.
