defa ult, the system boots up with NumLock on.

This entry a llows you to select how the ga te A20 is ha ndled. The ga te A20 is a
device used to a ddress memory a bove 1 Mbytes. Initia lly, the ga te A20 wa s
ha ndled via a pin on the keyboa rd. Toda y, while keyboa rds still provide this
support, it is more common, a nd much fa ster, for the system chipset to provide
support for ga te A20.

This determines if the typema tic ra te is to be used. When disa bled, continua lly
holding down a key on your keyboa rd will genera te on ly one insta nce. In other
words, the BIOS will only report tha t the key is down. When the typema tic ra te
is ena bled, the BIOS will report a s before, but it will then wa it a moment, a nd, if
the key is still down, it will begin the report tha t the key ha s been depressed
repea tedly. For exa mple, you would use such a fea ture to a ccelera te cursor
movements with the a rrow keys.
