Signal (DMX +)
Connect the DMX input signal cable to the "DMX IN" and use the four output sockets (DMX OUT 1 to 8) to split the
DMX signal. Use the “DMX OUT” to loop the DMX signal through without being split.
For systems with very long DMX cable runs or high electrical interference, such as in a discotheque, it is
recommended to use a DMX terminator. The DMX terminating resistor is implemented in an XLR connector as a
120
Ω resistor between pins 2 and 3, which is plugged into the last output socket of the DMX line.
3.2 Building a DMX chain:
Each DMX device in a line weakens the signal somewhat. That is why the DMX standard limits the total number of
devices in a chain to 32. If you need to connect more devices or distribute the signal over two or more lines, you
need a DMX splitter. Each chain must be terminated at the end with a 120-ohm terminating resistor (also called a
terminator) to prevent signal reflections. You should not use any microphone cable, but only appropriately shielded
cable with 110
Ω impedance (also called DMX cable).
