6 Lifting the Patient
6.1 Sling Information
WARNING!
Invacare shall not be liable for damage or injury
that may occur as a result of using slings made
by other manufacturers.
Invacare shall not be liable for damage or injury
due to incorrect use of the sling or inadequate
attention by the caregiver or user.
– Use the sling that is recommended by the
individual’s healthcare team for the comfort
and safety of the individual that is being lifted.
If there is any doubt about the selection or use
of a sling, please contact your Invacare dealer.
A sling with four to six straps designed for mounting on
hooks should be used when using the ceiling hoist.
Refer to the sling user manual for more details about
the slings. Contact your Invacare Representative for more
information.
6.2 Attaching the Sling
CAUTION!
Be careful when attaching the sling on the hooks.
– Check that the sling straps have been positioned
completely onto the hooks.
– When pressing the up button to lift the patient,
check again that all the sling straps remain
correctly placed in the hooks.
The sling straps are to be hooked in pairs (one from the
back and one from the leg) on their own suspension hook.
When attaching the sling to the hooks, and the
straps are twisted, the straps will rotate and stretch
out, thus ensuring trouble-free operation.
The information in this section is only a general guideline.
Refer to the Invacare sling DVD and the sling user manuals
in how to apply each of the Invacare sling models. Contact
Invacare with any questions regarding sling attachment.
