2 Initiation
2 .1 Scope of application
Caution!
Damage to the cutting mechanism!
The machine must only be used to shred
paper, CD’s, DVD’s and credit cards .
Shredding other sorts of data carriers may
cause damage to the machine (e.g. damage
to the cutters etc.).
The intimus 29 CP4 data shredder is a machine used
for shredding general documents and data carriers
such CD’s, DVD’s and credit cards.
2 .2 Installation
1 .
The shredder should be placed on a flat level sur-
face.
2 . Make sure that the wastebasket is completely in-
serted into the shredder cabinet and that it fits
flush with in the cabinet.

Plug the power cord into any standard 230-volt AC
outlet.
4 . The ready switch in located at the right rear of the
shredder head (Fig. 1/5). Place the ready switch in
the ON position. The ready LED (Fig. 1/1) should
light up.
NOTE!
UK adaptor is inside of basket!
3 Operation
3 .1 Turning the machine on
With the ready switch (Fig. 1/5) in the ON position, the
wastebasket properly inserted into the shredder cabi-
net and the power cable plugged in, the shredder is
now ready for use.
3 .2 Operating the shredder
NOTE!
Remove all paper clips and staples from pa-
per before shredding. The intimus 29 CP4 will
cut staples, small paper clips and credit cards;
however, proper discretion is recommended.
When paper is inserted into the feed opening, the
shredding process will start automatically and stop
when the paper has completed its travel through the
feed opening.

Located on top of the shredder is the FORWARD and
REVERSE buttons (Fig. 1/7+8). Their purposes are:
„
When the
ready switch is in the ON position
, the
shredding process will start when paper is inserted
into the feed opening and will continue until it has
passed through the feed opening.
„
The REVERSE button is used to assist in the remo-
val of a paper jam, which reverses the shredding
process prior to a completed forward cycle, thus
clearing the cutters. When switching from REVER-
SE to FORWARD, always allow the motor to stop to
prevent possible damage to the motor.
