exhalation valve
Under certain circumstances is it necessary to remove the exhalation valve in order to
clean it.
1.
Unscrew the ESA-adapter with a pin spanner or the ESA adapter tool (P/n
460200022).

Push at the locking tabs on each side of the exhalation valve cover to release it.

3.
Remove the exhalation valve assembly [Fig. 12].

Clean and disinfect the exhalation valve assembly according the above
instructions for the mask.

Lubricate the pin of the exhalation valve assembly with silicone lubricant
331900269 and place it back in the hole in the mask connector [Fig. 12].

Place the outer end of the exhalation valve spring in the circular cavity on the
inside of the exhalation valve cover. Now move the exhalation valve cover
towards the mask and hitch the cover onto the connector by first inserting the
upper “hook” of the connector into the middle hole (in the upper part) of the valve
cover. Then push the lower part of the valve cover towards the connector until the
two locking tabs on both sides lock into position.

Clean the outside of the breathing valve with a cloth and lukewarm water
(maximum 40° C) with Spirorein or equivalent to remove dirt.

Wipe the breathing valve clean with a cloth and clean water.
3.
Dry the breathing valve

WHEN CLEANING THE BREATHING VALVE IT MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE IT IS
REASSEMBLED AND PUT BACK INTO SERVICE. REMAINING WATER MIGHT FORM ICE ON VITAL PARTS, RESULTING
IN MALFUNCTION OF THE BREATHING VALVE.
extended cleaninG
In certain circumstances it is necessary to disassemble the cover and valve insert in
order to clean the breathing valve.
1.
Disconnect the breathing valve.

Unscrew the cover of the breathing valve and remove the positive pressure spring.

3.
Unscrew the locking nut of the breathing valve, use a spanner wrench (tool #
95992-01) if necessary. Remove the valve insert [Fig. 14], connect a breathing
hose to pull out the valve insert if necessary.

Clean the cover, locking nut, positive pressure spring and valve housing including
the diaphragm and diaphragm ring in lukewarm water (maximum 40° C) with
Spirorein or equivalent. Follow the instructions supplied with the cleaning agent.

Disinfect the diaphragm and valve housing by putting it in a solution with
Spiroclean, Curacid PSA Ultra or equivalent. Disinfect the lever arm of the valve
