Chapter 13 Troubleshooting

Description:

- The Feed key does not work.
- LED control lamp is lit.

Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:

• The printer's main program has halted due to high external

disturbances from other electrical sources.
- Restart the printer and find out if there are disturbances

coming via the mains supply, via a communication channel, or
from other electrical appliances.

• Defect Feed key switch.

- Replace the interface module.

Description:

An error message is returned via a serial port.
- The printer stops functioning
- The LED control lamp is usually lit (red).

Intermec EasyCoder 301 Direct Protocol

• The following error conditions are always detected. Note that

verbosity is on in the Direct Protocol by default:
- Error 1005 (“Out of paper”)
- Error 1022 (“Head lifted”)
- Error 1027 (“Out of transfer ribbon”)

- Error 1058 (“Transfer Ribbon fitted”)

- Error 1059 (“Cutter does not respond”)

1

- Error 37 (“Cutter device not found”)

The Direct Protocol is provided with an error-handler that can be
designed to work according to the customer's requirements.
Refer to the Intermec EasyCoder 301 Direct Protocol – Pro-
grammer's Guide.

• At every erroneous instruction, the printer transmits an error

code on the selected standard OUT channel (serial communica-
tion only), provided the verbosity is not turned off. The same
applies if errors are detected during execution.

Firmware Error

• In case the CPU is unable to access data on a given address, the

internal program will switch the colour of the LED control lamp
to red.
