Chapter 13 Troubleshooting
13.13 Rewind Troubles
(not LinerLess)
Description:
The media take-up unit does not work properly.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Bad backing paper rewind or bad dispensing.
- Check that the paper is threaded correctly as described in the
Installation & Operation manual.
- Check the setup for incorrect media type and feed adjust
settings.
• The media take-up unit does not rotate.
- Check if the belt between the media take-up unit and the
stepper motor is broken, is slack, or has come off the pulleys,
see chapter 7.4.
• Stepper motor does not run.
- Check as for “Paper feed does not work” in chapter 13.11.
Description:
The printer cannot read a memory card.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Wrong type of memory card.
- The memory cards must either be flash memory cards, or PC
memory cards complying with the JEIDA-4 or PCMCIA
standards.
• DOS-formatted SRAM card does not work.
- Check that the write protect switch on the SRAM memory card
is enabled.
- Check the internal battery of the card (missing or no power).
- Flash memory cards cannot be DOS-formatted.
• No card inserted at startup.
- The card must be inserted before the power is switched on or
the printer is rebooted.
• Bad connection.
- Pull out and insert the card a few times to remove possible
oxide.
Note! The printer must be turned off.
• Error in content of the card.
- If you have access to a PC equipped with a card reader, list the
memory content of the PC memory card to see if it is correct.
- In case of a SRAM card, the information stored may been lost
due to some malfunction in the card's battery backup.
- If you can communicate with the printer via a PC, you could
see what files are stored in the memory card and the size of
them with the aid of Intermec Direct Protocol commands
FILES "card1:" and FILES "card2:".
• Hardware error.
- Inspect the memory card for mechanical damage.
- Examine the memory card adapter on the CPU board for
breakage or bad soldering.
