Server Board SE7501WV2
Key Feature Comparison
The Intel
®
Server Board SE7501WV2 provides a number of additional features and performance enhancements over it’s
predecessor, the Intel
®
Server Board SE7500WV2, including:
•
Intel E7501 chipset
−
Increased front-side bus performance: The E7501 chipset provides a high-bandwidth front-side bus that
operates at 533 MHz and provides a data transfer rate of up to 4.2 GB/s between the processors and memory.
Processors operating with a 400-MHz front-side bus are also supported but will reduce the bus speed to 400
MHz and the data transfer rate to a maximum of 3.2 GB/s.
−
Support for future increases in processor performance: Processors that operate with a 533-MHz front side bus
provide the necessary headroom for future increases in processor performance.
•
Integrated Adaptec AIC-7902 two-channel Ultra320 SCSI controller with Host RAID support (SCSI version only)
−
Ultra320 SCSI: The seventh generation of SCSI (Ultra320) doubles the maximum data transfer rate to 320
MB/s.
−
Host RAID: A new feature integrated into a number of new Adaptec SCSI controllers, Host RAID provides
support for RAID levels 0 and 1 directly through the SCSI controller and includes support for hot swap of
drives, and SCSI accessed fault-tolerant enclosures (SAF-TE).
•
Integrated ATA RAID with support for non-RAID devices: The ATA RAID controller integrated into the ATA
RAID version of the SE7501WV2 server board supports the use of ATA hard drives as individual devices. This is
handled through a software switch at the operating system driver level. When individual drives are installed in a
non-RAID configuration, these drives cannot be used as boot devices and data on these drives is only accessible
from within the operating system.
•
Support for Intel Server Management version 5.5
−
Online BIOS and firmware upgrades: Allow remote BIOS and firmware upgrades while the server is up. Once
the upgrade has been applied it will take effect following the next system boot.
−
Improved command line interface: Includes support for additional commands.
−
Support for native command line interface over serial: Provides a command line interface through the serial
port.
Support for Simple Network Management Protocol version 3 (SNMPv3): SNMPv3 provides improved security and
administration features to the SNMPv2 specification. Security now includes authentication, encryption and access
control.
