Chapter Five Operating System Installation
This chapter primarily focuses on the method for installing the major operating
system on the server. The Ruijie server kit supports the following operating systems
that can be installed intelligently and automatically, such as Windows Server 2003,
Windows Server 2008 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2. However, some con
fi
guration
of the server may not support automatic setup of these operating systems. The operat-
ing system of other version shall be set up according to the actual need. For operating
steps of Ruijie kit intelligent installation operating system, refer to corresponding chap-
ters and sections of User Manual for Ruijie server kit.
The con
fi
guration of mainboard SATA HostRAID of the server does not support
Red Hat Linux operating system.
During manual setup of the operating system, some operating system may need
the
fl
oppy drive or Inspur drive U disk to load the driver of hard disk controller. Refer
to the readme.pdf
fi
le under the root directory in Inspur system driver CD for the mak-
ing method of the driver
fl
oppy disk. If the system you purchased is con
fi
gured with
Inspur drive U disk, you may refer to relevant contents of this chapter for the making
method of Inspur drive U disk.
If your server is configured with external RAID card or SAS sub-card, please
refer to the electronic version of User Manual in the CD for the external RAID card or
SAS sub-card to add the driver for the hard disk controller. If it uses main-board SATA
controller, please make the driver of controller according to the accompanied Inspur
system driver CD. For network card driver, display card driver and system patch pro-
gram, the guidance in the chapter can also be referred for setup.
It is suggested that you con

rm in advance that the purchased machine con
fi
gura-
tion supports the version of the installed operating system.
This chapter is prepared by taking the con
fi
guration of external 8708 SAS RAID
card as an example.
If the con
fi
guration of the system has two storage controllers, it can only load
automatically the drive of one controller when using automatic installation system of
Ruijie kit, and the drive of the other controller could be added after the completion of
system installation.
