Weather channels

(U.S.A. and Australian version transceiver only)
The transceiver has 10 weather channels. These are used for
monitoring broadcasts from NOAA (National Oceanographic
and Atmospheric Administration.)
The transceiver can automatically detect a weather alert tone
on the selected weather channel or while scanning. (p. 17)
Push [CH/WX] once or twice to select a weather channel.

The volume and squelch level can be adjusted with [VOL/

Push [VOL/SQL](Dial) one or more times to display the

volume/squelch adjustment screen.
Rotate [VOL/SQL](Dial)

] to adjust
the volume/squelch level.
•Thetransceiverhas20volumelevelsandOFF.
•The transceiver has 11 squelch levels: OPEN is completely
open; 10 is tight squelch; 1 is loose squelch.
•Ifnokeyoperationisperformedforabout5seconds,thetrans

ceiver sets the selected volume level, and returns to the normal
mode.
Push [ENT] to set the level, and exit the volume adjust-
e
ment mode.
•Push[CLEAR]tocancel.
The desired function can be assigned to Dial. See page 70
for details.
