Selecting mode
The transceiver has 2 basic operating modes; VFO
mode and memory mode.

VFO mode
The VFO mode is used to set the operating frequency.
What is VFO?
VFO is an abbreviation of Variable Frequency Oscilla-
tor. Frequencies for both transmitting and receiving are
generated and controlled by the VFO.

Memory mode
The memory mode is used to operate on memory chan-
nels, which store programmed frequencies.
• “
” appears when the memory mode is selected.

Call channel mode
The Call channel is used for quick recall of the most
often-used frequency.
• “C” appears instead of the memory channel number, when
the Call channel mode is selected.

Weather channel mode
There are 10 weather channels for monitoring weather
broadcasts from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmo-
spheric Administration).
Push several times to select the desired operating mode.
