First, check the following.

• When receiving a signal, the S-meter shows the signal

Adjust [VOL] to the desired audio level when receiv-

] to tune the antenna tuner, if con-

nected.

• Skip this step when “AUTO TUNE” is set to ON in the

initial set mode (p. 51).

To transmit on the channel, hold down the PTT

switch on the microphone.

” blinks for 1 to 2 seconds for the first transmis-

sion on a channel when the automatic tuning function is
ON.

Speak into the microphone at your normal voice

level.

• The RF meter shows the output power according to your

voice level.

” appears, check your antenna system.

Release the PTT switch to receive.

Functions for transmit

Transmit frequency check

When “

DUP

” is displayed in the display such as on

a ship-to-ship channel, the transmit frequency differs
from the receive frequency.

In such cases, the transmit frequency should be mon-
itored before transmitting, to prevent interfering with
other stations.
