DSC OPERATION

Distress call
A Distress call should be transmitted if, in the opinion of
the Master, the ship or a person is in distress and requires
immediate assistance.
NEVER
USE THE DISTRESS CALL WHEN YOUR
SHIP OR A PERSON IS NOT IN AN
EMERGENCY. A DISTRESS CALL CAN BE USED
ONLY WHEN IMMEDIATE HELP IS NEEDED.

Confirm no Distress call is being received.

While lifting up the key cover, hold down
[DISTRESS]
for
5 seconds to transmit the Distress call.
• Emergency channel (Channel 70) is automatically selected and
the Distress call is transmitted.
• When no GPS is connected, input your position and UTC time,
if possible.
• While holding down
[DISTRESS]
, the key backlight blinks.

After transmitting the call, the transceiver waits for an
acknowledgment call.
• The Distress call is automatically transmitted every 3.5 to 4.5
minutes.
• After 2 seconds, the transceiver is automatically set to Channel
16.
