1. Carefully prepare the food. Place the
thickest parts close to the edge of the plate.
2. Monitor the cooking time. Cook for the
shortest time that is given and then continue
cooking if necessary. Food that is overcooked
may start to produce smoke or catch fire.
3. Cover the food while it is being cooked.
Covers prevent the food from splashing and
helps to cook the food evenly.
4. Turn the food once while cooking, which will
cook food such as chicken and hamburgers
more quickly. You have to turn big pieces of
food, like steak for example, at least once.
5. Rearrange food such as meatballs, for
example, halfway through cooking, by turning
them and moving them from the middle to the
edge of the plate.
1. The ideal material for cutlery and accesso-
ries in microwave ovens is material that is
transparent for microwaves, so that energy can
pass through them and heat the food.
2. Microwaves cannot pass through metal, so
metal cutlery, metal containers and plates with
metal decoration must not be used.
3. Do not use products made of recycled paper
for cooking food in the microwave, as they may
contain small metal fragments that can cause
sparks and fires.
4. Round or oval plates are recommended
rather than square or rectangular ones, as food
in the corner tends to overcook.
5. Small strips of aluminum foil can be used to
prevent exposed areas from overcooking. But
make sure you do not use too much, and keep a
distance of 2.5 cm between the foil and the
inner wall of the oven.
