3-4 Options Installation
General Instructions
The following pages supply general instructions for handling
adapters. Read these instructions now, but do not unpack any
adapters until you read the instructions for installing each one.
CAUTION
Before doing any procedure, turn off power to the system
unit and all connected devices, and unplug system unit
and device power cables from electrical outlets. Refer to
“Safety Notice Translations” on page iii.
When you are finished, see “Installing the Covers on the System
Units” on page 3-15.
After all options have been installed, check out the installation
by following the procedure in Section 9, “Checking Out the Option
Installation”
Handling Static-Sensitive Adapters
Warning: Adapters can be damaged by static electricity
discharge. The adapters are wrapped in antistatic bags to
prevent this damage.
Take the following precautions when handling devices sensitive to
static electricity discharge:
1. Hold the device (still in the antistatic bag) in one hand, and with
the other hand, touch the metal on the system unit frame.
