console cable” on page 5.
__ 5. Before you remove the card from the system unit, you need to see if you
have an open position to install the card you removed in a different
position.
Look at the PCI card area. Are there any open positions?

Yes : Go to the Install PCI Card topic in the Information Center for
instructions on Moving a card in your iSeries .
__ No : Use the following to help determine card placement.
– Go to the Install PCI Card topic in the Information Center
– Contact your authorized service provider or your authorized
dealer
__ 6. Attention: Adapter cards are fragile. Use static strap when handling ,
handle only by the edges, and keep fingers off printed circuit area.
__ 7. Install the new 2746 adapter card in one of the following positions:

270 system unit: C06
v
810 system unit: C07
v
820 system unit: C04 or C11
v
825 system unit: C06
v
830, 840, SB2, SB3 system unit: C04, C06, C07, C09, or C10
v
870 or 890 system unit: C04, C06, C07, C08, or C09
__ 8. Does your unit have screws to secure the cards?
__ No : Continue with the next step.
__ Yes : Remove the screw from the card position where you plan to
install the card.
