Installing
and
removing
a
hot-swap
power
supply
The
server
supports
a
maximum
of
two
hot-swap
power
supplies.

CAUTION:
Never
remove
the
cover
on
a
power
supply
or
any
part
that
has
the
following
label
attached.
Hazardous
voltage,
current,
and
energy
levels
are
present
inside
any
component
that
has
this
label
attached.
There
are
no
serviceable
parts
inside
these
components.
If
you
suspect
a
problem
with
one
of
these
parts,
contact
a
service
technician.
The
following
notes
describe
the
type
of
power
supply
that
the
server
supports
and
other
information
that
you
must
consider
when
installing
a
power
supply:
v
The
server
comes
with
one
585-watt
hot-swap
power
supply
as
standard.
The
input
voltage
is
110
V
ac
or
220
V
ac
auto-sensing.
v
You
can
install
an
optional
585-watt
hot-swap
power
supply
to
use
as
a
redundant
power
supply.
v
These
power
supplies
are
designed
for
parallel
operation.
In
the
event
of
a
power
supply
failure,
the
redundant
power
supply
continues
to
power
the
system.
Two
power
supplies
are
supported
per
server.

on
how
to
properly
connect
Y
power-cord
connectors
to
backup
power
supplies.
The
following
illustration
shows
the
power-supply
connectors
and
their
associated
LEDs
on
the
back
of
the
server.
The
AC
LED
is
the
top
LED
and
the
DC
LED
is
the
bottom
LED.

Installing
a
power
supply
Complete
the
following
steps
to
install
a
hot-swap
power
supply:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
beginning
on
page
v
and
2.
Remove
the
power-supply
blank
cover
from
the
empty
power-supply
bay
by
inserting
a
coin
or
flat-tipped
screwdriver
into
the
slot
in
the
middle
of
the
power-supply
blank.
Pull
the
blank
cover
from
the
power-supply
bay.
Save
the
power-supply
blank
cover
in
a
safe
place.
Attention:
During
normal
operation,
each
power-supply
bay
must
have
either
a
power
supply
or
power-supply
blank
cover
installed
for
proper
cooling.
