3.18 Step 16

This step verifies that the 7208 Tape Drive communicates with the AS/400 and is capable of reading from and writing to tape properly.

1. At any OS/400 menu command line, type vfytap and press Enter.

2. Follow the screen prompts.

Note: In one screen, you will be asked whether you want to perform a short or long test. The short test takes approximately 3 minutes;

the long test takes approximately 30 minutes.

Does the tape verification test complete successfully?

NO Rerun the test with another cartridge. If the test fails a second time, replace the drive. Refer to "Removing and Replacing the

Drive" in topic 4.3.

YES The problem is fixed.

This completes the MAPs.
