5.2 Pre-charge pressure testing
frequency
If an accumulator type is being used in a
particular application for the first time for
which no empirical values are available, it is
recommended to observe the following testing
frequency:
Time after
installation
Elastomer
diaphragms
Full-PTFE
diaphragm

X = test pre-charge pressure
If no significant gas loss is detected, the testing
of the elastomer diaphragm can be carried out
once a year (every six months for
full-PTFE-diaphragms).
If sufficient empirical data is available, the
testing frequency can be specified according to
the specific circumstances.
NOTICE
Continuous operation at high operating
temperatures requires more frequent testing.
The nominal values of the pre-charge
pressure (p
0
) are based on a charging
temperature of 20 °C.
5.3 Testing the pre-charge
pressure
The pre-charge pressure (p
0
) can be tested
with or without the FPU charging and testing
unit.
On small hydraulic accumulators, and wherever
possible, the pre-charge pressure (p
0
) should
be tested without the charging and testing unit
to avoid any nitrogen loss during the test.
NOTICE
For drawings referred to in the text, see
fold-out page.
4.8 Mounting
The hydraulic accumulators with standard
connection and nominal volumes up to 2 l
can be screwed directly into the pipe. The
diaphragm accumulator must be installed
securely to withstand vibrations during
operation or any break in the pipes. Also, the
mounting supports must not exert stress in any
form on the diaphragm accumulator.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Basic maintenance
instructions
In order to ensure long and trouble-free
operation, the following maintenance
procedures must be carried out regularly:
– Test the hydraulic accumulator pre-charge
pressure (p
0
),
–
Check that connections are tight and
leak-free,
–
Check the valves and safety equipment for
correct operation,
–
Check the mounting elements.
NOTICE
The current regulations for repeat testing in
the country concerned must be observed.
