General information
These operating instructions apply to HYDAC
safety and shut-off blocks (hereinafter referred
to as SAF).
Series: SAF10 - 50, SAF8
The SAF is a hydraulic accessory that is used
to secure against overpressure on the fluid
side and to shut off and discharge hydraulic
accumulators.
It complies with relevant safety standards in
accordance with DIN EN ISO 4413 and the
German industrial safety regulations BetrSichV.
The SAFs must only be used for their intended
purpose.
The HYDAC safety valve DB12 is used in the
SAF series 10 - 50.
It is a direct-acting pressure
relief valve.
A special pressure relief valve for
higher pressures is used in the SAF8 series.
The pressure relief valves used comply with
the requirements of the European Pressure
Equipment Directive (PED) with CE marking
and are supplied with a declaration of
conformity and instruction manual – see:
“Operating instructions DB12120A-CE”
No. 5.169.B
Max. operating pressure SAF10 - 50: 400 bar
Max. operating pressure SAF8:
800 bar
NOTICE
All work on HYDAC safety and shut-off blocks
must only be carried out by suitably trained
staff.
Incorrect installation or handling can lead to
serious accidents.
On no account must any welding, soldering or
mechanical work be carried out on the SAF.
Gases under pressure.
After discharging and/or completely draining
the hydraulic accumulator (e.g. to depressurise
the hydraulic system before work is carried
out), the accumulator can build up an amount
of pressure again if the lines are later shut off
on the fluid side.
All the fluid-side lines and attachment parts
(e.g. SAFs) connected to the hydraulic
accumulator must therefore be depressurised
and after that the lines must remain open.
Ensure that the fluid side is depressurised.
Only then may the hydraulic accumulator be
removed from the hydraulic system.
Before working on the hydraulic accumulator
itself, the gas side of the hydraulic accumulator
must be depressurised and remain open.
Ensure that the gas side is depressurized.
Only then may the appropriate work (e.g.
disassembly of the hydraulic accumulator) be
carried out.
The applicable operating instructions of the
connected hydraulic accumulators must be
observed.
