1. General Remarks

. The series EDS 4000
pressure switches are factory-calibrated and subjected to final testing on test stands
employing proprietary software. If any malfunction is occurring, please contact the
HYDAC
Service Dept.
Any tampering with the switch will cause all warranty claims to become null and void.
2. Function
The pressure signal measured by the sensor is converted internally into a signal which is
proportional to the pressure.
At a fixed or programmable switch point, the switching output will react.
3. Installation and Commissioning
The pressure switches can be mounted directly to the hydraulic system via the thread
connection.
In order to prevent mechanical damage when dealing with critical applications involving
heavy vibrations or blows, for example, we recommend securing the unit with an elastomer
clamp and decoupling the hydraulic ports via a Minimess hose.

The gauge type model “V” (vented gauge, see model code) provides pressure equalization
with the ambient pressure. This is enabled by a flame proof path. This flame proof path is
located at the electrical connection conduit.
The installation is to be done from qualified personal in accordance with the pertinent
regulations pertaining to potentially explosive environments, e.g. IEC / EN 60079-14.
The pressure switches of the series EDS 4000 carry the marking. The certificate of
conformity is to be found in the annex.
The requirements of the standards (see technical data) cannot be satisfied unless the
pressure switch housing is properly grounded via the mechanical connection or the ½ NPT
conduit. If a green-yellow wire is available, it is possible to connect this wire to ground
additionally to the grounding connection, but may not be used on its own as the grounding
connection.
When using hose mounting, the housing has to be grounded separately.
The devices must be grounded during installation.
The suitability of the grounding shall be subject to the acceptance of the local inspection
authority having jurisdiction.
The General Safety Precautions (cf. section 5) are to be heeded in any event.
