The splitter/combiner circuit may be implemented as shown in F

23 . However, the RFL™ PLC
Hybrid Pro accomplishes this functionality with one coil and balancing resistors, simplifying the
interconnecting wiring and minimizing opportunities for error or improper connections during both
commissioning and maintenance work. The RFL™ PLC Hybrid Pro splitter/combiner requires only
four connections which are clearly labeled for the application. The circuit in

23 requires
twelve connections with critical phase-dependent connections (which are likely not labeled for the
specialized application) introducing many opportunities for problems. Some of these problems may be
difficult to trace.
The LINE ports of the splitter/combiner each have a gas discharge tube (E1, E2) and slo-blo fuse (F1,
F2) for overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
