Removing the Chassis Cover for Maintenance Procedures
To provide proper ventilation and cooling, the chassis cover must remain in place during normal
operation to allow proper airflow and prevent overheating. The protective film (see
Figure
5-1
)
covering the top of the chassis should have been removed prior to operating the server for the first
time. Reference

To do so, perform the following steps:
1. Remove the two screws which secure the top cover onto the chassis as shown in
Figure 5-1
.
2. Lift the top cover up and off the chassis.
3. The protective film covering the top of the chassis should have been removed at time of
installation.
4. Check that all ventilation openings on the top cover and the top of the chassis are clear and
unobstructed.
Important:
Except for short periods of time, do not operate the server without the cover in place.
