Hard drive
Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the service door (see Service door on page 28 ).
5. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 29 ).
6. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 30 ).
Remove the hard drive:
1. Loosen the six captive Phillips screws (1) that secure the hard drive to the computer.
2. Lift the hard drive enough to access connector under the top left bracket, and then disconnect the hard
drive cable from the system board (2).
3. Lift the hard drive out of the computer (3).
4. To remove the hard drive from the bracket, remove the four Phillips PM3.0×3.0 screws (1) that secure
the bracket to the hard drive.
