File Uploads, Downloads, and Resets

Downloading Access Point Software

■

Determine the name of the access point software file stored in the TFTP,
FTP, or SCP server for the access point

N o t e

If your TFTP, FTP, or STP server is a Unix workstation,

ensure that the case

(upper or lower) that you specify for the filename is the same case as the
characters in the access point software filenames on the server

.

Web: TFTP, FTP, or STP Software Download to the
Access Point

The Software tab enables the access point’s system software to be upgraded
by downloading a new file to the access point’s flash memory. The new
software file must be stored remotely on an FTP or TFTP server.

N o t e

Due to the size limit of the flash memory, the access point can store only two
software files. There are two images, a primary and a secondary that are
automatically selected and if in the event the primary is corrupted, the
secondary image is utilized as a backup.

The Web interface enables you to modify these parameters:

Remote Upgrade:

Parameters and actions needed to perform a remote

software upgrade.

•

Model:

Indicates the model identifier of the access point.

•

Platform:

Indicates the platform on the access point.

•

Software Version: Indicates the current value of software on the
device.

•

Server Type:

Indicates the type of server to complete the upgrade

transaction (FTP, TFTP, SCP). (Default is FTP)

•

Direction:

Indicates whether to save the file remotely or import the

file (Download-Restore; Upload-Save). (Default is Download)

•

Server IP:

Indicates the IP address of the server.

•

File Name:

Indicates the name of the upgrade file.

•

Username:

Indicates the username on the server.

•

Password:

Indicates the password on the server.

•

[Update]:

Updates the system with the specified parameters and

performs any requested actions.

Local Upgrade:

Parameters and actions needed to perform a local

software upgrade.
