Radio Characteristics

Radio characteristics may vary according to the country in which the USB Wireless 
LAN is purchased.

Wireless communication is often subject to local radio regulations. Although HP 
Wireless LAN products have been designed for operation in the license-free 4.4 Ghz 
band, local radio regulations may impose a number of limitations to the use of 
wireless communication equipment.

NOTE

Refer to the 

Information for the User

 flyer for any regulatory information that may 

apply to your country.

To comply with such regulations, HP USB Wireless LANs are marketed with 
dedicated channel-sets with a number of factory-programmed channels identified by 
following acronyms:

• ETS for countries that adhere to the regulations as defined by the European 

Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)

• FCC for countries that adhere to the regulations as defined by the US Federal 

Communications Commission (FCC)

• FR for France
• JP for Japan.

The acronym of the channel-set supported by your card is printed on a label on the 
bottom of your USB Wireless LAN.

If you plan to install and use USB Wireless LANs to connect to an Access Point or 
other computing device to antenna installation, additional regulations may apply.
