6. Close the locking lever on each bracket to secure the heatsink. To close the locking lever,
press it down and properly place its handle under the hook on the bracket. Refer to Figure
2-19.
CAUTION:
Be sure you have made good contact with the processor to avoid thermal
overheating. If you have not made good contact, the processor will overheat within 20
seconds of power on and will shut down, possibly causing damage to the processor.
7. Connect the heatsink’s cooling fan connector to the 2nd cooling fan connector (CPU 2
Fan) on the system board. Refer to Figure 2-19.

CAUTION:
Failure to connect the cooling fan to its power connector will cause the server to
shut down with no messages displayed, possibly causing damage to the processor.
NOTE:
No speed switch settings are required for the supported processors in the HP server. These
processors rely on the internal settings within the processors and do not rely on the external switch
settings.
8. Close the side panel.
9. Replace the external cables and power cord.
10. Power up the server and return to normal operation.
NOTE:
You may need to reconfigure or reinstall your NOS in order to use the additional processor you
have installed.
