CD-ROM server is ready for use

6. Insert a disc into a drive and verify that the green

CD

light on the server turns on.  If it does not, verify your
SCSI cable connections and then power cycle the
CD-ROM server.

Network Configuration

Novell NetWare 4.x Configuration

As a NetWare 4.x NDS-compatible server, the HP
CD-ROM Server must be installed in the NDS tree,
which simply involves setting the appropriate
configuration parameters.

1. Use a Windows platform tool (such as Network

Neighborhood in Windows 95 or NT 4.0) to view the
directory structure.  Locate the CD-ROM server’s
configuration file, which is at

HP

hhhhhh

_NW\sys\config\config.ini,

 where

hhhhhh

are the last six digits of the LAN hardware address.

2. Open

config.ini

with a text editor and enter the

appropriate values in these parameters:

3. Save the

config.ini

file. This sends the values to the

CD-ROM server. The installation will take about 30
seconds.

4. After installation you must logout and then login

again. Then proceed to “Mounting or Mapping
Network Drives”.

If you are using the SMB protocol to communicate
with the CD-ROM server  (e.g., Windows 95 or NT
networks), network configuration is not required.
Proceed directly to “Mounting or Mapping Network
Drives”.

If the CD-ROM server is not on an NDS network (for
example, NetWare 3.x), network configuration is not
required.

NDSTreeName

The name of the tree that you want to install

NDSServerContext

to install the server.

NDSAdminName

with Supervisor rights on the [Root] object,
and Create rights in the context where you
are installing the server.

NDSAdminPassword

NDSAdminName shown above.

NDSInstall

Change this to ‘

install

’ when you are

ready to install the server.
