Registration
In order to check the
Registration
between separations, look at the lines
above and next to the three cross marks (D, D1, & U) on the left border, and
the three parallel cross marks on the right border. Each of the lines is
composed of 4 colors.
The measured distance between the separations should be:

Tolerances can be measured accurately only with a
×
25 (or higher
magnification) eyeglass with internal graticule.
-
F Resolution
#1
All the lines starting from level 2 onwards (vertically & horizontally) must be
visible (hairline space) & clearly distinguished. The space between the lines
should not be contaminated by ink.
Line thickness of one pixel in level 1.
Check the lines for all color separations, vertically and horizontally.
-
G
Resolution #2 (wedge)
Check that the hollow image (the negative) is clearly opened from level 2
onwards.
-
H Picture
Check skin tone on the face and recurring effects on the picture background.
-
I
Vignettes (dynamic range)
Check for continuous vignettes, with gray level from 10% to 100%.
Compare to the reference master CATP job.
-
J Solid
density
Check the optical density (O.D.) of the solid squares (level 100) to the spec
values as follows:

K Color
LUT
Using a densitometer, check that the optical densities of the color boxes in
table K are within ±5% tolerance of the values in the CR (Chromalin) column.
-
L Uniform
density
values
Perform this check on two prints.
Check the optical densities, solid and gray, of the color boxes in all four
corners of the print.
The difference between the highest and lowest OD on each print should be
≤
0.15 (OD units) for solid and
±
5% for gray (70% – 80%).
