Overview
VLAN interfaces are virtual interfaces used for Layer 3 communication between different VLANs.
They do not exist as physical entities on devices.
A VLAN interface can also act as the management interface for a Layer 2 switch. By using the IP
address of the VLAN interface, you can log in to the switch through Web or Telnet to manage the
switch. The HPE NJ5000 5G PoE+ switch supports only one default VLAN interface for configuration
management.
Creating a VLAN interface
When you create a VLAN interface, you can select to assign an IPv4 address and an IPv6 link-local
address to the VLAN interface in this step or in a separate step. If you do not select to configure an IP
address, you can create the VLAN interface, and configure an IP address for the VLAN interface by
modifying it.
