NOTE:
The system board spare part kit includes replacement thermal material.
All system boards use the following part numbers:
xxxxxx-001: Windows 7 or non-Windows operating systems
xxxxxx-601: Windows 10 operating system

Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see
Bottom cover on page 28
)
5.
Remove the keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 41
)
6.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 29
).
NOTE:
When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the
defective system board and installed on the replacement system board:

SSD drive (see

WWAN module (see
WWAN module on page 33
)
NOTE:
Models that do not have a WWAN module installed will have a rubber insert installed in the
WWAN socket. Either a WWAN module or a rubber insert must be installed in the WWAN socket. The
socket must never be empty.
