When

spectrum
analyzer
is
used
in
linear
mode

provides

average
value
of
a
signal.
After
the
signal
has
been
maximized
and
the
peak
value
has
been
measured,
an
average
measurement
may
be
made
.
Video
(post-detection)
ltering
provides
averaging
of
higher
frequency
components
(such
as
noise)
at
the
output
of
the
envelope
detector
.
When
the
video
lter
bandwidth
is
narrower
than
the
resolution
bandwidth
lter
,
averaging
occurs
.
Narrowband
(for
example
,
continuous-wave)
signal
amplitudes
are
not
aected
by
video
ltering.
