Setting Audio V olume
Y our system is equipp ed with sev eral audio systems whic h b e used either for
the output of audio b eeps from v arious applications or for the recording and
repro duction of sp eec h-quality digital audio. F or more details on digital audio,
see \Using Audio Input/Output" in Chapter 4. The v olume for the b eep and
for other audio is con trolled in separate w a ys.
Y our system has an in ternal audio sp eak er. The b eep er output, as w ell as other
audio, is also routed to the output jac k on the system panel. This output can
b e used for either headphones or external sp eak ers. So y ou ha v e three p ossible
mo des of hearing audio:
In ternal sp eak er.
External headphones.
External sp eak er(s).
F or high-quality audio, headphones or external sp eak ers are recommended.
In HP VUE, the b eep er audio v olume, b y default, is set to a lev el of 50%. If
y ou are using y our system with the in ternal sp eak er only , the audio v olume
from the in ternal sp eak er may b e to o low to b e audible in some surroundings
and y ou may ha v e trouble hearing the b eep er.
On the other hand, if y ou are using y our system with headphones plugged in to
the Audio Out jac k, and y ou are running HP VUE, the 50% audio v olume lev el
is more appropriate and y ou may nd the 100% lev el to b e uncomfortably loud.
In case y ou need to adjust the audio v olume, do the following while y ou are
running HP VUE:
1. Click on the St yle Manager icon at the left side of the HP VUE F ron t
P anel. An elongated windo w sho wing v arious HP VUE conguration options
app ears.
2. Click on the Audio icon. An audio conguration windo w app ears.
